The new hosts, who are now part of our community, are known
as "M&M." They shared with Kajak.mk that all pets are welcome at
their hotel.
We spoke with Martina, who told us they are located in
Sopište, 500 meters above sea level. At their facility, it's common to spot
bunnies, birds, kittens, and puppies. To prevent conflicts between the
different "guests," each species is kept separate. However, they
ensure that all animals receive the attention they need, particularly given the
challenges they face, such as caring for aggressive dogs, shy or unsocialized
animals, and those with anxiety. Martina emphasizes that handling these diverse
personalities is one of the most rewarding and complex aspects of their job.
The hotel operates on an open-concept model, so the number
of animals and available space varies. For example, when a puppy with special
health needs or behavioral issues stays, the capacity may be reduced to ensure
more focused care.
As in any hotel, the guests are well-fed, and at
"M&M," the food is homemade and packed with vitamins and proteins
for a healthy, balanced diet. Special meals are also prepared for animals with
allergies or dietary restrictions. Above all, their goal is to make every guest
feel as if they’re at home.
Alongside Martina, Mile plays an important role in the
hotel, and together with their two parrots and four dogs, they create a warm,
inviting atmosphere. Martina shares that she and Mile take care of the hugs,
petting, and cuddles, while the parrots handle the music and ambiance, and the
dogs are in charge of playtime and games.
Both Martina and Mile are passionate animal lovers and
active advocates for animal rights. This is the driving force behind their
decision to keep so many animals of their own. Their love for animals became
even more apparent during their hiking trips, where they realized the
complexities involved in caring for both people and animals. This inspired them
to open a hotel where pets could receive the best care.
Thanks to their years of activism and experience, building a
customer base was a natural progression. Martina recalls that they initially
started with just one or two pets from friends and family, never imagining that
it would evolve into a full-time, unique business.
