We Opened the First Family-Owned Winery in the Village of Arvati

The wine stories shared daily on Kajak.mk are not exclusively focused on the Tikvesh region. Travelers who constantly follow our weekend destination suggestions will certainly confirm that small family wineries are opening all across the country.

We confirm this fact with the story of the new family-owned Alesto Winery, which enriches the gastronomic map of the Prespa region.

Today, we take you to the village of Arvati, to the home of Aleksandar, the youngest owner of the first family-owned winery in the Prespa region, "Alesto." This winery produces 5 types of wine and serves as a true inspiration for young generations who are considering starting their own business in their homeland.

But before we tell you about the winery, let's take a moment to share some information about the village itself, as we know many of you are eager to visit the village of Arvati and the winery.

The village of Arvati is located about 3 kilometers east of the Great Prespa Lake, in a deep, picturesque valley on Mount Baba (also known as Pelister), in the central part of the area, on both sides of the Shara River. With a stunning view of the lake and an altitude of around 1000 meters, this village is ideal for rest and relaxation. The village has a rich history, so anyone who decides to visit will certainly want to return.

Alesto Winery marked its establishment in 2022, but its official opening took place on July 12, 2023. From then on, every wine lover and explorer of new flavors can come, taste, and discover the wines produced by the winery.

The name of Alesto Winery comes from a combination of the names of the brothers behind it, Aleksandar and Stojance, who say that guests will surely enjoy the overall atmosphere. The location itself is abundant with beautiful scenic views, sunsets, and the mountain air that fills the lungs with purity.

The vineyard's grapevines are located on two micro-locations at an altitude of 900 meters, with varieties such as Sтанушина, Prokupec, Temjanika, Vranec, and Smederevka. These varieties are transformed into labels that preserve history and mystery, says Aleksandar.

The doors of Alesto Winery are open to anyone who wants to enjoy the story and explore the village of Arvati. A group of up to 20 people can comfortably be accommodated in the winery to enjoy the tasting. So, don't hesitate—places like this in Macedonia need your support.
