Sashko shared the story of the winery’s origin and the path his family has walked.
Originally from the village of Bohula, located on the right side of the Bošava River at an altitude of 900 meters, his father Duško, along with his family, moved to the village of Marena when Sashko was just 6 years old. There, Duško built a house and started a new life. After 30 years of investment and work in viticulture, Duško decided to transform their rural home in Marena into a small winery to cultivate and process grapes.
Today, Sashko, Duško’s son, manages the small family winery with the support of close friends and relatives. The Eros Winery produces around 12,000 liters of wine annually.
Part of the vineyards are owned by Sashko's family and are organic, while the other part is rented. All the grapes are cultivated and processed in the same way. For Sashko, preserving and enhancing biodiversity is the most important goal. He mentions that they do not treat weeds; they live in symbiosis with the vines, which helps increase the number of insects and microorganisms in the soil. A fertile soil is healthy soil, which leads to healthy products.
The winery officially began operations in 2005, although they had been producing wine for personal use before that.
Today, Eros Winery is proud of its portfolio of 10 wines, including "Stellar Temjanika," "P'na Mesecina Muscat Ottonel," "Pilgrim Sauvignon Blanc" (harvested at night), "Talismán Žilavka," "Chardonnay Dry and Semi-sweet," "Eva Bela Stanushina," "Rosé Eva Stanushina," "Adama Crvena Stanushina," and "Vranec with 16.5% alcohol." The production process involves minimal interventions, with each wine having its own distinct mark.
Sashko works alongside his father, creating an excellent combination of traditional methods and a passion for experimentation.
