Among the Barovo distilleries and wineries, there is the small family distillery and winery named "Traikovsky Wines & Spirits." Traikovsky is the new gastronomic destination that today becomes part of the Kajak.mk world, and its story about beginnings and development was shared with us by Biljana Trajkovska.

Biljana says that what makes them proud as producers is the product of their great-grandfather's tradition from 1922! The quality recipes that their ancestors mysteriously passed down from generation to generation led to the official stamp in 2008, opening the door to global markets. By 2010, it grew into a global brand promoting Macedonia throughout the European Union, the USA, and Australia.

The Traikovsky Winery and Distillery is located in one of the most beautiful regions in Macedonia, which Biljana says was used by their ancestors. Their intention is to stay here and continue to follow the old philosophies, methodologies, and practices.

Located in the village of Krnjevo, this small family distillery still operates according to traditional principles, using copper stills and recipes from 1922 that require double and triple distillation. They use grapes that have been used for generations because they believe the best rakija and wines were made from these vines, which grow on the foothills of Mount Kozuf at an altitude of up to 700 meters above sea level.

Today, the signature of "Traikovsky Wines & Spirits" is their distillates, which are considered the best in Macedonia and are exported. In our country, they can only be found in specialized alcohol stores and online on the distillery's website.

Biljana adds that they are particularly proud of Traikovsky rakija, which has a unique "whiskey" flavor, resulting from the combination of six grape varieties, and this rakija matures for three years in barrels made of Blagunj oak.

Here, we also mention the Traikovsky VS brandy, a blend of 12 grape varieties that matures for three years in French oak. This brandy is a counterpart to French cognacs and often surpasses even the best French varieties in blind tastings, adds Biljana. As for their wines, they are characterized by rich aromas and freshness.

On the market, they have "Tribute Temjanika," which is definitely a different style of Temjanika from what most consumers are accustomed to. It is intensely aromatic on the nose, but solid in taste, offering a refreshing twist on Temjanika, with incredibly attractive aromas of elderflower, honey, and tropical fruits, says Biljana.

We also mention "Tribute Rosé," a wine with a wonderful character, a powerful, strong rosé made from Cabernet Sauvignon, which captivates and hypnotizes with unforgettable aromas and flavors of overripe strawberry jam, Maraska cherry, and orange sorbet.

The last wine Biljana highlights is the Vranec, which will be ready for sale next year and is produced according to the methods of their late father-distiller.

All of this is realized in the yard in front of the winery/distillery under a pergola and the shade of old walnut and fruit trees. The tasting can be combined with lunch, featuring homemade food from local farmhouses, prepared in the oven in the yard itself. These visits are not open to the public but are exclusively available for groups with prior booking and reservation, with a choice of the offered menu.
