Producing 'Stanušina Rosé Wine' from 50-Year-Old Vineyards
Our 65th gastro destination is located in the heart of the city of Kavadarci, where Mr. Goran Jakovlevski opened the doors of his family-owned 'Winery Jakovlevski' for all gastro travelers constantly searching for new flavors throughout Macedonia.

If you ever find yourself wondering where to go for the weekend, remember that our database already features a total of 65 gastro destinations that you can enjoy, each with a great story, lively conversations with people who put love and effort into their work.
Today, we will briefly share the story of 'Winery Jakovlevski,' but you can learn much more if you decide to visit.

Goran says that the tradition of grape growing and wine production in his family began in 1975 when his grandfather established their own vineyards with the varieties Smederevka and Stanušina. These same vineyards are now tended by his son, which means that, according to the calculations, exactly four generations have been taking care of the wine story.

They are increasing the area of vineyards year by year, which in turn boosts the winery's capacity. Today, they also grow Vranec, and for the Temjanika variety, they purchase grapes from local producers. Goran says that the grapes they purchase come from carefully selected vineyards located in the Tikveš wine region, primarily from the fields of the villages of Manastirec, Gegnishte, Resava, and Kamen Dol.

In addition to wine production and sales, Goran is also a long-time advocate for improving and facilitating the work of individual wine producers and small family wineries. He is the president of the association "Tikveš Family Wineries," and together with other members of the association, they work on the development of wine culture and winemaking in the country. He is proud that, united, they succeeded in advocating for the change in the "Wine Law," which allowed the registration and operation of small family wineries. This legal change has enabled Goran, as well as many small wine producers, to open their wineries and spread the story of wine in Macedonia.

The wine produced by "Winery Jakovlevski" is particularly distinguished by the powerful Vranec, a dark red wine with strong natural aromas of forest fruits and pleasant, soft tannins. It often happens that people who usually don't enjoy wine try it and are simply amazed by it. The winery has received several awards for this wine, including a gold medal at the "Balkan Wine Competition" and Festival, as well as a platinum award at the competition in Thessaloniki.

In addition to sales, Goran says that they also organize weekend wine tastings at the family winery from early spring to the end of summer. Wine enthusiasts frequently visit, having the opportunity to try all the wine varieties and relax.
If you wish to visit the winery, more information and contact details for reservations can be found HERE.
