First Year as a Winery, Lifelong Agriculture Roots

The Atanasov family shared the story of their new family winery, "Todor," which was officially registered this year, in September.

The winery is located in the village of Drenovo, Kavadarci, where their vineyards are also situated, just near the archaeological site of Eudaris, 5 kilometers from the village.


The Atanasov family has been working and living off agriculture for many years, with viticulture being their primary activity. Their first vineyards were planted by their great-grandfather Todor in the 1970s, and they inherited the Vranec variety, from which they produce Vranec red wine, a wine they take great pride in to this day.


The agricultural duties and vineyard maintenance are handled by Atanas, the son of Todor. And if you're wondering why this winery is called "Todor," we believe it’s now quite clear. The winery was founded by Todor and Valentina, who are Todor’s grandchildren, and they decided to leave their mark on many years of hard work.

Due to the proximity of the archaeological site, the wine made from the Vranec variety is now called "Eudaris." They also have another red wine called "Pločata," which is a blend of Vranec, Smederevka, and a small amount of the Otonel variety.

In addition to wine, the "Todor" winery also produces madzun and vinegar using an old traditional method, without the addition of aromas or sweeteners. The annual production of wine ranges from 5,000 to 7,000 liters, while the maџun production is between 800 and 1,000 liters.

In the future, they plan to open their own small wine restaurant, where guests will have the opportunity to enjoy their wines paired with traditional food from the Tikveš region.
