5 Destinations in Macedonia Perfect for Meditation and Yoga!
5 Destinations in Macedonia Perfect for Meditation and Yoga!
The presence of stress in our daily lives is a result of the pandemic that closed our borders and clipped our travel wings. For almost a year, we have been trapped in our homes, hearing daily numbers of the deceased, infected, and impoverished people.
The Kajak.mk team is constantly searching for new travel options. No matter how limited they may be, there are still ways to travel. During this period, we have shared many destinations across the country where you can escape the hustle and bustle and isolate yourself from everyone.

Today, we speak with the team from Ayurveda Health. We asked them to name the five best locations in Macedonia where meditation has a special charm.
Here are their suggestions:
Meditation in the early morning hours by Lake Ohrid
Ohrid remains a top destination for meditation both in summer and winter. The winter days are especially valuable for those who wish to meditate in silence along the lake’s shore.
The high mountain slopes of Ponikva
Ponikva is an excellent meditation spot, particularly in the dense forest where the larch tree grows. Larch produces a burst of oxygen in the air, which is why many Macedonian doctors have chosen to build their villas in this part of the country.
The peak of Mount Vodno
You might be surprised, but we placed Vodno in third place because many people living in Skopje don’t have time to travel. We want to encourage them to visit this mountain more often, as its peak still holds clean, fresh air.

Berovo Lake
This destination has proven excellent due to the high oxygen levels in the air. Above Berovo Lake passes one of only four corridors in the world with enriched oxygen levels, found also in Peru, Alaska, and Northern India, which create ideal conditions for a natural “air bath.”
Prespa and Dojran Lakes
As beneficial in summer as they are in winter. Just like Lake Ohrid, the winter days by these two lakes are very relaxing — free from crowds and chaos.
Regarding whether there is a difference between meditating in summer or winter, Ayurveda Health says that generally, there is no difference. What matters most is feeling comfortable while practicing meditation, as it is an exercise to calm the mind, thoughts, emotions, and entire body. However, based on their experience, the most powerful meditations happen during the full moon, summer sunrises in the early morning hours, and winter evenings when darkness falls.

Ayurveda specifically addresses this issue — how to overcome stress, especially during this period when people are facing a previously unknown type of stress, a fear that surpasses all fears experienced so far. Ayurveda Health is part of the global organization Art of Living, the largest organization in the world dedicated to a stress-free life and awakening human values.
This company organizes yoga and hormonal yoga seminars and also offers a variety of products that can help in daily life. You can find more information about them at ayurveda.mk.
