The oldest archaeological finds prove that people in this region have been cultivating grapevines and producing wine since the 13th century BC.
Popova Kula Winery is a "greenfield" investment. Construction of the winery began on October 8, 2004, and by the Feast of the Assumption, August 28, 2005, it was ready for the first harvest and processing of the first grapes.
After completing the first phase and achieving full production capacity, two more years passed before starting operations with wine tourism.
In the wine industry, some grape varieties stand out, such as Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, or Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc, due to their excellent characteristics.
