Our gastronomic caravan arrived in the village of Ochipala, where we met the young host Damjan, who recently opened his ethno complex "Chardak" with the goal of promoting this Pijanec region in his unique way.
For those reading this who haven't heard of the village of Ochipala, it's located in the Osogovija area, just 2.5 kilometers from the town of Delchevo. Some citizens of Macedonia may also recognize the village as Ochipale or Ochipare. The village is hilly and sits at an altitude of 600 meters.
The complex "Chardak" is located in the Jovanovska neighborhood within the village.
Damjan says that the complex is accessible by any type of vehicle, with a 300-meter dirt road leading from the main road to the restaurant.
The restaurant has been in existence since 2021, but it officially began this year. We at Kajak.mk are happy to support Damjan in developing the place into yet another wonderful story.
Damjan adds that the story began with an exploration of the traditions and old customs of their region, which led to the idea of opening an ethno restaurant to promote the area's wealth. In the future, it could also function as a complex.
The restaurant serves food typical of the Pijanec region, and visitors can see regional artifacts and furnishings inside.
Notable specialties include "Jovanovska Trunta," a dough stuffed with cheese and baked in the oven. Also available are the famous Delchevo klisi and various types of oven-baked or cooked under a traditional dome.
