One year after the story on Kajak, we are happy to inform you that the restaurant 'At Viktor' is now officially certified as an 'autism-friendly' hospitality facility in Macedonia.
The owner and father of Viktor, Kosta Timov, tells Kajak that to obtain the 'autism-friendly' certification, one must go through a process that teaches many new things.
Kosta explains that the procedure is divided into two parts. The first part involves presenting to a professional international commission that follows European and global standards, and the second part involves adjusting the facility according to the required conditions.
Currently, the 'At Viktor' ethno restaurant meets 80% of the requirements, and the remaining 20% will be implemented in the next 6 months. These include having its own garden with permaculture and a toilet for people with disabilities.
Kosta adds that the proximity to the river allows them to organize walks, ride bicycles with special tricycles, and host more cultural and inclusive events throughout the year.
They are happy with the collaborations they’ve had so far and are proud that many parents of children with special needs have visited their ethno restaurant, exchanging experiences and helping one another.
Kosta is satisfied with the promotion received from Kajak.mk. He says that throughout the year, new guests have visited, and they’ve met new collaborators with whom they’ve implemented new ideas.
What Kosta and Viktor focus most on is delicious and healthy food. Kosta says guests are happy with the flavors. The most popular items include rural meats, mixed salads, gluten-free menus, homemade green pie, and makala, among others.
Kosta is happy that Viktor is meeting new friends. He says that although the interactions are brief, if there is a desire for socializing, Viktor is always open to it. Kosta adds that Viktor is constantly learning and investing in inclusion.
Most guests at the ethno restaurant are families coming for a family lunch, and family celebrations are often organized. Seminars, team-building events, and veteran basketball gatherings from all over Macedonia are also hosted.
