Specialty: "Ohrid Chomlek"

Whether with meat or a vegetarian option, this specialty is an extraordinary combination of flavors and aromas from its ingredients. Chomlek is a mix of produce found in Macedonian gardens—pearl onions, garlic, meat (veal and pork for the meat version, mushrooms for the vegetarian option), dried plums, white wine, and spices, with an essential ingredient: a lot of LOVE.

Apart from the Chomlek, the "Sofija" salad also stands out as an unusual combination that impresses everyone. The salad gets its name from Dimche’s granddaughter, Sofija, who used to eat certain ingredients every day. He made an effort to incorporate those same ingredients into a salad that, for him, is something simple, unique, refreshing, and delicious. It includes grated cabbage, chopped tomatoes, walnuts, crumbled cheese, grated yellow cheese, spices, olive oil, salt, basil, and oregano. For decoration, but also as an ingredient, broccoli is added. To Dimche, this salad resembles Sofija and her hair.

The "Kaj Kanevche" restaurant is unique primarily because of its location, as it is situated in the Kaneo neighbourhood, often described as Macedonia’s piece of paradise. It is also unique for its menu, which combines traditional and modern cuisine. According to Dimche, a restaurant must offer something Instagram-worthy, adding that although stuffed peppers and sarma are served traditionally and are incredibly delicious, they are unfortunately not yet attractive for social media.

Dimche says that "Kaj Kanevche" is easy to find—if you rent a boat from Ohrid’s port, you will arrive at the restaurant in just five minutes. If you go on foot, you will pass through the famous old fishing settlement and the St. John the Theologian Church before reaching it.
