Horseback Riding in Galičnik – A Mountain Adventure

This horseback riding experience in Galičnik offers a unique Western-style riding adventure through the spectacular mountain landscapes of Mount Bistra.

How to Reach the Ranch

The ranch can be reached via the road to Galičnik. There is only one main route to the destination, with no shorter alternative road.

After entering Mavrovo National Park, continue towards Mavrovi Anovi. Continue straight and pay close attention to the turn at the dam. You need to turn left and cross the dam.

There is a road sign for Galičnik before the dam, although it is not particularly prominent. If you continue straight instead of turning left, you will be heading towards Debar, and there is no shortcut from that direction to reach Galičnik.

RUSIN TRAIL

The Rusin Trail is a mountain horseback riding adventure across the vast highland pastures of Mount Bistra, leading to the traditional Rusin sheep farm.

During the ride, you will have the opportunity to visit Medеnica Peak (2,163 m), one of the highest peaks of Mount Bistra, and enjoy spectacular mountain views.

The route takes you across open mountain meadows and rocky trails, offering an authentic experience of the landscape and a completely different way to explore the mountain.

At the old Rusin sheep farm, you can experience the traditional lifestyle of local shepherds and learn about their daily activities, including the traditional production of cheese, kashkaval, and yogurt.

The tour ends with a picnic lunch at Sherpa Ranch, where you can taste traditional Galičnik kashkaval from the Rusin farm, homemade pie, fresh vegetables, and a glass of homemade rakija.

Along the route, you will once again have the opportunity to reach Medenica Peak (2,163 m) and experience the fresh mountain air, open landscapes, and untouched nature of Bistra.

This tour is recommended for riders who have some previous experience and feel confident on horseback.
