This tour in Galichnik offers a western-style horseback riding experience. To reach the ranch, you must take the road to Galichnik, as there is unfortunately no shortcut to this destination. Once you enter the Mavrovo National Park, drive toward Mavrovi Anovi, then continue straight. The most crucial part is to take a left at the dam, crossing it. There is a sign indicating the turn for Galichnik before the dam, but it is not very prominent. If you miss this turn, you’ll head toward Debar, and unfortunately, there is no shortcut to return to your destination.

Rusin Trail

This is a mountain riding tour that takes you across the vast pastures of Mount Bistra to the traditional sheep farm Rusin. Along the way, you will have the chance to visit Medenica Peak (2,136 m), the highest point on Mount Bistra, offering breathtaking views of the most picturesque part of the Stogovo massif (2,218 m). Riding through endless fields and rocky paths, you’ll experience something entirely unique and different.

Visiting the old sheep farm Rusin allows you to get an up-close experience of shepherd life. You’ll learn about daily shepherding routines, such as making cheese, kashkaval, and yogurt in the traditional Galichnik way. The tour ends with a picnic lunch at Sherpa Ranch, where you’ll savor fresh Galichnik kashkaval from the Rusin farm, homemade pie, fresh vegetables, and a shot of rakija.

Saltanica Trail
