Skopje, the capital city of the Republic of North Macedonia, is home to museums that reflect the rich historical, cultural, and artistic heritage of the region.

Our tour will begin in the morning at a designated meeting point in the city center.

The goal of the tour is to visit all the significant museums in the city, through which we will delve into the rich historical and cultural heritage of the Macedonian people.

The museums are located in the central city area, so no additional transportation will be needed.

The tour includes visits to:

  1. Museum of the City of Skopje – This museum showcases the historical and cultural milestones of Skopje's development, with a focus on architecture, urbanism, and significant events that have shaped the city’s history.

  2. Mother Teresa Memorial House – Dedicated to the life and work of one of the greatest humanitarians of the 20th century, Mother Teresa, who was born in Skopje. The memorial house is located in the city center, near her birthplace, and serves as one of the important historical and cultural monuments of the city.

  3. Museum of the Macedonian Struggle – This museum explores the history of the Macedonian people in their fight for independence and sovereignty. It contains exhibits from the liberation wars and significant historical events of the 20th century.

  4. Museum of Macedonia – One of the largest and most important museums in Skopje, it presents the history and culture of Macedonia from ancient times to the present day. It is housed in a building with a unique architectural style and features exhibits on archaeology, ethnology, and art history.

  5. Memorial Center of the Holocaust of the Jews from Macedonia – Dedicated to the memory of the tragedy that befell the Jews of Macedonia during World War II. The center aims to explore and document the suffering of Macedonian Jews, who were deported to Nazi concentration camps in 1943, where many perished.

  6. Museum of the Old Bazaar of Skopje – This museum is dedicated to exploring and presenting the tradition, history, and culture of the old Skopje market area, known as the Čaršija. The Skopje Čaršija is a historical and cultural center dating back to the Ottoman period and was the heart of the city’s economic and social life.

Depending on the group’s interests, adjustments can be made to the program.

(Additional museums that can be included: The Archaeological Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Natural History Museum.)

We will conclude the museum tour with coffee in the Old Skopje Bazaar.
