Producing 100% Natural Beer with My Brother

Producing 100% Natural Beer with My Brother

For the travellers on Kajak.mk, who are always in search of something new, delicious, and authentic, we are pleased to inform you that from today, we are expanding our 'Gastronomy' section with the Bakrevski microbrewery, which has an interesting and unique story behind it.

First and foremost, we must highlight that the Kajak.mk team is thrilled to have met Marjan Bakrevski, a professional musician by profession, who started his craft beer production hobby with his brother. Together, they now produce over 5 tons or 10,000 bottles per month. What excites us is the fact that through our team-building activities, we can now support these local guys who are making small things with enormous significance for the development of tourism. This is yet another must-visit destination in Bitola that deserves attention from everyone.

Marjan says that together with his brother, who is a dentist by profession, they found a shared passion and interest in brewing good beer. It all started with a simple 20-liter pot and a combination of ingredients they mixed in their living room. After the first batch, they acquired a second, a third, and so on, until today, when they have a mini brewery that produces enough beer to bring smiles to many faces.

Marjan has studied in various countries, starting in the USA, after which he moved to Vienna, where he lived with a group of musicians who made homemade wine, brandy, and good food. Inspired by the fact that each of his friends was preparing something of their own and unique, he decided to start brewing beer at a time when raw materials were not available on the market in Macedonia.

He brewed his first beer six years ago, and the reason he hasn't stopped until today is, as he says: "Once you taste good beer, there's no turning back. You're constantly in search of a better recipe than the last one." He compares it to music, he says.

The process of brewing the beer involves soaking barley in water, boiling the water, adding hops, cooling it down, and then adding yeast, which matures into good beer in about a month. For more information, you can contact the brewery and, of course, taste the great beers.

The beer produced is named BAK, with a label designed by Darco Ristevski, who created a chameleon that changes color depending on the beer. They started with barley, IPA beer, dark STOUT beer, and wheat beer.
