One-Day Wild Team-Building Trips to Golem Grad Island

One-Day Wild Team-Building Trips to Golem Grad Island

The goal of the team at Kajak.mk is to encourage companies to regularly take their employees into nature, where they can be physically active, learn about the environment, discover new places, and, of course, support the local communities, who are involved in our stories. Kajak.mk is building a different world, one where everyone deserves to be happy and a world where those who have been overlooked on the tourist map of Macedonia will finally be given the spotlight.

Today, we would like to inform you that we have assembled a team of licensed guides who would be delighted to organize a one-day exploration of the Prespa region, including a visit to the island of Golem Grad. Our agenda includes lunch at local farms and families promoting local tourism, a guided tour of Golem Grad Island with a licensed guide, and boat rentals.

Through this one-day social trip, you will have the opportunity to take stunning photographs of our unique island in Macedonia, which is part of the Galicica National Park.

Due to the high natural and cultural wealth found on the island of "Golem Grad" within such a relatively small area of only 23 hectares, this island is located in a strict protection zone.

What makes us most happy is the fact that the island has always had minimal human impact, and thanks to its specific climate, it allows for rich biological diversity.

It may be a bit less known to you that the island holds the status of one of the best open herpetological laboratories in Europe and that researchers from multiple countries visit it every year.

Surely, as soon as you read the title, the thought of "Snake Island" crossed your mind, and you might be wondering what would be interesting to observe on the island.

Yes, it is true that the island has a large population of the European pond turtle, but an interesting phenomenon is also the presence of Hermann's tortoise, whose population is the densest in Europe in relation to the island's size, with around 2,000 individuals. An interesting fact is that for every female, there are 15 male individuals.

On the island, you can observe many remnants of churches, early Christian basilicas, and Roman houses. The best-preserved structure is the Church of St. Peter, which is said to date back to the 14th century and has been declared a cultural monument.

During the boat ride around the island, you would surely want to visit local families and farms that prepare delicious meals outdoors, right? We wouldn’t leave them off the agenda, of course.

This is yet another opportunity for companies interested in offering their employees a unique team-building experience in the wilderness.
