Dimitar’s Journey: From Small Winery to Exceptional Wine

Dimitar’s Journey: From Small Winery to Exceptional Wine

On Saturday, during the wine fair held in Kavadarci, the team from Kajak.mk met Dimitar by chance while tasting a wine that left a good impression on us. Dimitar is young and new in the business, yet he deserves attention for what he produces.

The wine we tasted was from the 'Rkatsiteli' variety, which encouraged us to talk with Dimitar and add his winery to our shop, so that we can offer you the opportunity to taste something good at a reasonable price.

Dimitar stands behind the brand 'Wine & Spirits,' a small family winery officially registered in 2022. He is from Kavadarci and has his own vineyards under the authentic sun that ripens the Tikveš gold, which is later poured into a glass.

Dimitar told us that he has been connected to viticulture and winemaking for as long as he can remember. With a laugh, he says that if you're from Kavadarci, it's sad if you’ve never worked on grapevine plantations.

He is the fourth generation in his family producing rakija, wine, and mazhun. To officialize the crown of their family’s labor, Dimitar registered the winery. Today, they produce around 3,300 liters of wine annually, and his ambitions are leading him toward opening his own wine and food tasting room, as well as rooms for accommodation.

His winery today produces white, rosé, and red wines from the varieties Rkatsiteli, Smederevka, Muscat Hamburg, and Vranec. He is most proud of the Rkatsiteli, which he names 'Moonlight Walker.' Regarding the wines, he says that the grapes are grown in the traditional way, with modern processing and controlled temperature during the fermentation process.
