Exploring Nature with Kids All Year Round

Exploring Nature with Kids All Year Round

Meet Angela Taseska, a graduate biologist and educator, who sparks children’s curiosity and love for nature through outdoor workshops. Her story is now part of the Kajak.mk World, a platform that highlights local heroes from Macedonia.

The Kajak.mk team continuously supports local heroes – people who, through dedication, creativity, and personal effort, create value in their community. One such story is that of Angela Taseska – a graduate biologist, educator, and founder of the NGO 'Biodiversity for All', who brings nature to where it is most needed – into the hearts of the youngest. With years of experience in scientific institutions, museums, and a national park, Angela now follows her mission: to teach children to love, understand, and protect nature.

Although her professional path took her through institutions and field research, working with children came naturally – as a continuation of her love for biology. First through the projects she participated in, and later through the realization that the youngest are the most powerful voice for change.

‘I realized that if we want a healthy nature, we need to start with children. They see the light where we sometimes forget it,’ says Angela.

This is how her independent mission began – creating outdoor workshops accessible to as many children as possible, with activities that encourage learning through play, movement, and adventure.

For Angela, motivation has a name – children’s curiosity. Their honesty, their questions, their enthusiasm. She says they are proof that environmental education should not remain confined to institutions.

‘When you give them the right space, children naturally love nature. My task is simply to open that path.’

Working outdoors is not always easy. The weather is unpredictable, groups vary, and children’s safety is always the top priority. In every workshop, each step is carefully planned and designed so that children feel free and safe. She overcomes challenges with careful preparation, patience, and love for every child and activity, which is evident in her workshops.

Angela collects natural materials, checks facts, invents new games, consults with fellow biologists, and prepares activities tailored to the interests of each group.

No workshop is ever the same. Each is a little story, carefully crafted so that children feel free, safe, and joyful.

The greatest joy for Angela is seeing children happy and curious, asking, ‘When is the next adventure?’ and fully connecting with nature. Watching them run across the meadow, explore the forest, listen to birds, and form new friendships – that is the reward that surpasses every effort and project.

Children are her greatest inspiration, but support has also come from parents who recognize the value of her work. Over time, institutions, NGOs, colleagues, and her closest supporters have joined her mission, creating a network that strengthens every new initiative.

Angela dreams of a country where learning outdoors becomes part of everyday education, and where children experience nature as a real classroom. In her vision, each week will feature workshops that awaken children’s senses and curiosity, and there will be a special educational corner always accessible to anyone who wants to explore, touch, and experience.

To anyone who wants to start something similar, Angela says: ‘Start. Nature works wonders, and working with children brings the most genuine joy. All it takes is love and patience. Change begins with one child falling in love with nature.’
