Every day, we introduce you to new hosts and local heroes who are dedicated to developing tourism in their region. Today, we are excited to introduce Sashko Mitovski, the host of the "Kalin Kamen" inn, which has become a haven for true gourmets and travelers.
Sashko shared the inspiring story behind the establishment of this inn. Originally a mountain cabin since 2002, the facility underwent a significant transformation in June 2021. Over the course of a year, it was upgraded and reopened as a restaurant, offering not only delicious food but also stunning views. The guesthouse is located at an altitude of 1500 meters in the Osogovo Mountains. To reach it, head towards the road leading to the St. Joakim Osogovski Monastery. After visiting the monastery, continue uphill towards Kalin Kamen Peak, where you'll find the inn on your way.
While the monastery is accessible by bus, the guesthouse can only be reached by car, motorcycle, or smaller vehicles. For those planning to visit, we also recommend exploring the lake situated above the guesthouse, a perfect spot for relaxation. Sashko mentions that guests are particularly drawn to this place for the natural beauty of the Osogovo Mountains—its lush greenery, oak, beech, and pine forests, and, of course, the scenic meadows.
As for the house specialties, we highly recommend indulging in homemade vegetables, banica, pita pod sach, kachamak, and meat prepared in various ways. Be sure to try the signature dishes, such as the Kalin Kamen burger and the mouthwatering beef steak.
