Matka Monastery
Our adventure begins with a visit to the Matka Monastery, an
ancient Orthodox monastery dedicated to the Dormition of the Mother of God.
Built in the 14th century, the monastery is one of the most beautiful
historical and religious sites in the area. Located on the banks of the Treska
River, the monastery offers a peaceful atmosphere and a unique view of the
surrounding nature.
Hiking along the Treska River
After visiting the monastery, we continue with a short hike
along the banks of the Treska River. This river is known for its natural beauty
and the numerous kayaking competitions held here. During this relaxing hike, we
will enjoy the landscapes of the artificial Matka Lake as well as the peaceful
and serene atmosphere of the surroundings.
Boat Tour through the Matka Canyon
The next activity is a boat ride through the Matka Canyon,
where you will have the chance to enjoy the spectacular natural beauty of the
canyon. The views of the cliffs, plants, and birds that inhabit these areas
will create a special magic on this journey.
Exploring the Vrelo Cave
Our next destination is the Vrelo Cave, one of the most
famous attractions in the Matka Canyon. The cave has two halls and a 30-meter
long lake, and it is perfect for all nature and geology lovers. The cave has a
mystical atmosphere that will take your breath away.
St.Andrej Monastery
After returning from the Vrelo Cave, we stop and visit the
Sveti Andrej Monastery, located on the other side of the river. This monastery
is one of the symbols of the region's religious heritage and will be the
perfect end to this half-day tour.
