Weekend Gastro Getaway: Village Vladimirivo and the Bastion Restaurant Experience

Another suggestion for a weekend gastro destination on the kajak.mk platform. Has anyone heard of the Bastion restaurant in the village of Vladimirivo? We’re sure to get plenty of "Yes" responses, as "Bastion" is the ambassador restaurant of Vladimirivo.

For those who haven’t heard of Vladimirivo, this hillside village should definitely be added to your list of places to visit in 2023.

Located in the Municipality of Berovo at an altitude of 850 meters, the village is just 8 kilometers away from Berovo, connected by a local road. In the village, you’ll find the beautiful Bastion restaurant, where you can taste the gastronomic tradition of Malesevija.

The restaurant features a warm and beautiful interior, offering a pleasant and quiet atmosphere with excellent staff. The management believes that food should be delicious, not just something to eat. For this reason, the restaurant has its own menu, showcasing authentic specialties that blend the best of traditional Macedonian cuisine with modern twists.

For those who decide to visit the restaurant, the kajak.mk team recommends ordering the traditional Bastion board as an appetizer, which features Malesevo sheep cheese, Malesevo cow cheese, pepper in kajmak, pork from a jar, and local macala.

As house specialties, the kliši are a must-try. You can find the classic kliši, ones with leek, served on a grill with onions, or even with onions and porcini mushrooms. There’s also a burgerignon with pork tenderloin.

For those who prefer specialty dishes upon request, you can order maznick (zelnik) with leek, cheese, and sour milk. The restaurant also prepares roasted lamb, goat, and pig.
