Unforgettable Experiences for Tourists in Kruševo

Unforgettable Experiences for Tourists in Kruševo

Ahead of the “WhenInKrushevo” festival, which the Kajak.mk team recommends as a must-visit destination from August 6th to 8th, we introduce you to the people who bring magic to the town.

Kruševo is a city where active tourism never fades. Whether you visit in August or in January, the town always has something to offer.

During the festival days, you’ll be able to enjoy kayaking on the lake, paragliding over the town, and in winter, you can enjoy the snow.

Today, we introduce you to Gjorgji Icoski, a long-time member of Macedonia’s Nordic skiing team. He is well known in the Macedonian public for his successful career in winter sports.

Gjorgji was the only biathlon competitor from Macedonia at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, having met the Olympic A standard, with Macedonia ranked 33rd as a nation. However, due to the large number of participants, the Olympic Committee decided to limit participation to 31 nations, and Macedonia was unfortunately not included in the final list for the Olympics.

But Gjorgji is also well known for water sports, which, as he says, he connects with skiing because the technique is quite similar in some ways.

He fell in love with kayaking while on summer training in Ohrid, where he paddled across the lake together with his friend Lazar Popovski (about whom Kajak.mk has shared a story—you can read it with one click HERE). From that day on, Gjorgji fell in love with kayaking as a relaxing sport and decided to buy his own kayaks, which he now rents out to guests at the When In Krushevo festival.

According to him, Krushevo Lake is a perfect spot for recreational kayaking because the water is calm and wave-free. What makes this experience even more unique is the fish population — Gjorgji says that while tourists enjoy paddling on the lake, they can spot Testalobik fish weighing up to 30 kilograms.

Everyone who has used this lake attraction receives proper equipment and kayaking instructions, which Gjorgji considers the most important part. To make the range of activities even better, he has also acquired SUP (stand-up paddle) boards that are available for anyone interested to use.

You can find more information by visiting the When In Krushevo festival, which will take place from August 6th to 8th in Krushevo.
