Renovated Mountain Hut Puts Vitanchevo in the Spotlight

Renovated Mountain Hut Puts Vitanchevo in the Spotlight

This might be our most positive and motivating story on Kajak.mk since the beginning of 2023. We are happy to have the opportunity as a platform to introduce you to the mountain lodge "Dedo Ilo Jančev," which, as of today, is part of the platform and we believe will gain its fame throughout 2023.

Exploring the foothills of Mount Kozuf, our caravan arrived in Gorni Disan, a village located 12 kilometers from Negotino and situated at an altitude of 580 meters above sea level.

The village is located on the eastern slope of the Vitachevo plateau and on the left side of the source area of the Disan River. Unlike the surrounding places in the Negotino region, the area around Gorni Disan has a lot of forest, rich with oak, hornbeam, beech, birch, as well as evergreen and low shrubs. Combined with the river, which is a strong and inexhaustible source, this area is ideal for active tourism and relaxed walks throughout the year. From the Kajak.mk team, we guarantee that visiting the village and walking through the surrounding area will leave you as impressed tourists in your own country.

But to make the impressions even greater, here are the hiking trails and paths through the vineyards of Vitachevo, which are maintained by the hiking club "Free Hikers." We spoke with Ahmed Muratov, the person who tirelessly contributes to the development of local tourism and the promotion of Gorni Disan.

Ahmed is a long-time mountaineer and a member of the hiking club "Free Hikers," which maintains and renovates the "Dedo Ilo Yanchev" mountain lodge. For Kajak.mk, Ahmed is the new local guide and hero who does small things of enormous importance in the development and promotion of tourism in the region, which we believe is unknown to many of you.

For those who want to be guests at the lodge today, Ahmed says that they should keep in mind that the lodge is in its final phase of renovation. A new kitchen has been installed, there are new sleeping areas, a new toilet building, a gazebo, new taps, and a barbecue. The renovation will be completed once the new 15 beds are installed.

If there are any adventurous explorers who want to take a walk in Gorni Disan, Ahmed recommends it as a one-day trip. Guests will be able to freely use the lodge’s facilities for food preparation and rest, without having to pay for accommodation.

When it comes to exploring Gorni Disan, Ahmed mentions that the "Free Hikers" mountaineering club has cleared and marked several hiking trails designed for hikers, recreationalists, and nature lovers.

All of these trails start, end, or pass by the "Dedo Ilo Yanchev" mountain lodge. One is named the "Wine Path," starting from Dolni Disan and continuing towards the surrounding ridge. Another leads to "Studena Voda," a third goes to the famous spot "Gradot," and one of the trails passes through the area called "Orle," known for its high-quality grapes.

Some of the trails are intended for experienced mountaineers, while others are for nature walk enthusiasts. However, what makes all the trails enjoyable is the surrounding vineyards that encircle the village, from which the finest wine and Tikvesh brandy are produced, says Ahmed.

The village of Gorni Disan can be reached by an asphalt road. Ahmed invites all adventurers and nature lovers to be guests at Disanija, where he, along with his team as hosts of the mountain lodge and experienced mountaineers, will share many more details about the village, the region, and its history.

Let’s not forget to mention that guests who visit the lodge have the opportunity to taste wine from the local family winery "Venec."
