The team at Kajak.mk often says that no meaningful story is ever easy, and that true success never happens overnight. Behind every fulfilled dream stand hard work, patience, and deep love for what one does. Success is not defined by location alone, but by the heart invested in the journey and the determination not to give up—even when the road is long and challenging. For us, Macedonia today does not end at its physical borders; it lives wherever the aroma of Macedonian cuisine continues to spread.

Today, we share the story of Daniel Petrovski, a native of Valandovo, who continues his personal and professional journey in Germany. Far from home, in the city of Hanau, Daniel has created his own place under the sun—one where he proudly shares his love for Macedonian and Balkan cuisine with the world.

Daniel moved to Germany in 2017. As he says himself, from the very first day he carried a clear idea within him: to open a restaurant that would serve authentic homemade Macedonian food, prepared according to traditional recipes. The road toward that dream was far from easy. Years were spent searching for the right location, handling paperwork, securing finances, and facing the many challenges that come with building a life abroad. Yet faith, perseverance, and patience ultimately prevailed.

Today, the result of that journey proudly bears the name Scala Coffee & Restaurant—a place that is much more than a restaurant. It is a story of home, tradition, and authentic flavor. Located near the center of Hanau, along the banks of the Kinzig River, Scala offers a warm and welcoming escape from the fast-paced and stressful rhythm of everyday life in Germany.

The menu is a true journey through Macedonian and Balkan cuisine. Guests can start their day with an omelette, traditional pies, or makalo, and continue with fresh salads and dishes that evoke the feeling of a homemade family table. Every plate reflects care, tradition, and respect for authentic taste.

“People from all over the Balkans come to our restaurant,” Daniel says. “But recently, we’ve been welcoming more and more Germans and guests of other nationalities. They truly enjoy Macedonian cuisine and are impressed by our flavor combinations.” This, he adds, is the greatest proof that taste and sincerity know no borders.
Reviews speak for themselves—guests consistently praise the pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff, and exceptionally delicious Balkan food.
The story of Daniel Petrovski is living proof that dreams can come true, even far from home. Scala Coffee & Restaurant is not just a successful business—it is an ambassador of Macedonian culture in Germany, a place where Macedonia is felt, tasted, and lived.
