Horseback Riding in Kruševo: Between History and Nature

Horseback Riding in Kruševo: Between History and Nature

Ahead of the “When in Krushevo” festival, the team at Kajak.mk has decided to serve you all the essential information about the attractions you can visit and experience in this unique mountain town — the highest town in the Balkans.

Today, we’re introducing you to the story of Dimitar Velski, who has been developing a horseback riding attraction in the town of Krushevo for years. Dimitar is the founder of the equestrian club “Musica,” an attraction that, according to those who’ve already tried it, is especially appealing because of the breathtaking landscapes it covers.

The equestrian club has been operating for two years, offering everything from adrenaline-filled horseback riding tours in nature to relaxed, informative tours where tourists can learn a lot about the town and its surroundings.

Dimitar’s club has 8 purebred horses, and the ranch is located just 50 meters from Krushevo Lake. For Dimitar, it doesn’t matter whether riders are beginners or professionals, because, as he says, for those who are just starting out, his team provides short introductory tours where they can learn how to ride a horse.

For the story to be successful, he says love is necessary. This kind of love for horses appeared in him from childhood, when at just 10 years old he already had his own horse.

Over time, he realized that tourists were looking for such attractions in Krushevo, and from there he got the idea to form his own club and offer something new to the local tourism.

For Dimitar, Krushevo is one of the most beautiful places for horseback riding. He says this area stands out from others in Macedonia because of Krushevo Lake and its untouched nature. The Krushevo Korija, which is over 500 years old, is unique and worth exploring, complemented by historical sites such as Mechkin Kamen, Macedonium, the St. Preobrazhenie Monastery, and many other locations that tourists can visit through the tours themselves.

The impressions of the tourists are what matter most to Dimitar. The positive feedback and admiration they express are the best things that can happen to an organizer. He says that if the tours are organized professionally, everything will go smoothly as it should.

Kruševo is located in one of the most beautiful regions of Macedonia, surrounded by dense and deep pine, oak, and beech forests, at an altitude of 1,250 meters. It is the highest town in the Balkans and, as such, is a true mountain retreat. Today, it represents a blend of traditional, historically glorious past and modern architecture and culture.
