Discover the First Wine Room in the Heart of Gevgelija's Old Bazaar

Discover the First Wine Room in the Heart of Gevgelija's Old Bazaar

The Kaјak.mk team is excited to introduce you to Yani and Melissa, our new local heroes who are building the positive story called "DiWine." The rainy weather didn't stop us from taking you to the southern border of Macedonia, where a new gastronomic destination has blossomed from the ground up, and it's a must-visit.

Yani and Melissa say that the idea to open such a wine room stemmed from their shared passion for wine, as well as the widespread presence of vineyards in the Gevgelija region.

While traveling through Macedonia, they realized that the country has great wine potential that needs to be properly promoted to the Macedonian public. Thus, they decided to turn this idea into a new wine-tasting experience.

They started by creating a concept that would primarily promote unique local wines, with the main goal of encouraging the local population to prefer wine over hard liquor, something that is quite common in Mediterranean countries like Italy, France, Slovenia, and Spain.

The wine tastings are complemented with snacks consisting of cured meats and dairy products, because, as the old saying goes, "You don't drink on an empty stomach." All of this is perfectly paired with quality red, white, and rosé wines.

For the spring and summer periods, they plan to combine white and rosé wine tastings with fresh fruit, which is perfect for refreshing both the body and the mind.

The team at DiWine adds that their door is wide open for collaboration with all small family wineries. Their goal is to provide as much support and promotion as possible for these wineries and their wines.

When asked who has provided the most support, Melisa says it’s their closest family and friends. However, the driving force behind their success is also Jani's position at the renowned Bovin winery, from which they source some of their products.

In addition to the wide selection of wines, the establishment also offers a variety of everyday alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Guests can also enjoy a pleasant chat over a cup of quality coffee.

Jani and Melissa say that the doors of DiWine are open to all guests, from those who enjoy a good glass of wine to those who want to learn more. They are happy to already have regular guests who, as they say, enjoy the unique ambiance.

Today, they are writing their own story, but in the future, they hope that the DiWine family will grow. The location of DiWine is in the heart of the Old Bazaar in Gevgelija, and the exact coordinates and contact details for reservations can be found with just one click HERE.
