Discover Authentic Macedonian Cheese at "Korab Trnica"

Discover Authentic Macedonian Cheese at "Korab Trnica"

For over a year, the "Korab Trnica" complex has been a part of the Kajak.mk community. Our team is pleased that the hosts of this complex have demonstrated a strong interest in contributing to a new era of tourism in Macedonia, one that promotes healthy, active, and authentic experiences.

Some of our travelers have already visited this unique gastronomic accommodation, and for those who have not yet heard of "Korab Trnica" today will have the opportunity to find out interesting informations about it. The complex "Korab Trnica" has accommodation facilities, restaurant, business meeting room, lobby and its own shop for: dairy and meat products, jams, honey and wine.

Many families spend their weekends here, largely due to the children's playground, which features a variety of playground toys and children's bicycles that encourage physical activity. For adults, the complex provides free access to bicycles and fishing equipment. Additionally, Korab Trnica has its own horses and offers horseback riding lessons for beginners.

The title itself speaks of where the accommodation is located, and that is the village Trnica. You can reach this village by the road that leads from Mavrovi Anovi to Debar. The village is said to be quite historic in the area of Gorna Reka. There you can visit the monument of the fallen fighters of the National Liberation War from this area. With the renovation of the complex, several hiking trails have been built around it in order to allow guests to fully enjoy nature.

The story of the "Korab Trnica" brand dates back to 1945, when the well-known traditional products such as "Korab yellow cheese", "Trnica cheese" and "Trnica sour milk" were produced. In 1974, the restaurant Korab Trnica was created, which was later complemented with accommodation facilities. From 2015, the shine of the Brand returns when the investment process begins. Korab Trnica Complex has its own history that is nurtured and upgraded over the years. The focus of everything is nature. The taste and quality of Korab Trnica products and the traditional specialties of the restaurant originate from it.

What we like the most is that the hosts of "Korab Trnica" nurture the tradition, but at the same time offer modern content, and the accommodation is adapted to meet the needs of each tourist.

We would like to emphasize that in addition to the family apartments, the apartments for larger companies, the complex has also built romantic mountain bungalows for couples, and has arranged a camping area.

At the beginning of our text we mentioned that "Korab Trnica" is a gastronomic accommodation, for us the term "gastronomic accommodation" is a new modified term which indicates that the accommodation will not let you leave hungry. Various presentations and tastings of the white and yellow cheeses ,that are produced by the brand, are organized here and the complex has a completely restored restaurant with authentic appearance and construction from 1976 where traditional food is served, among which the most famous is the porridge which is a symbol of the restaurant and is prepared by the old recipe of the shepherds from Korab Trnica. It is served with sheep yogurt or with "Korab yellow cheese" and "Trnica cheese" and for many of the guests it is a real culinary pleasure.

Here you can also find pies with cabbage, leek, spinach and pumpkin, then excellently prepared lamb, goat, beef and chicken meat, fish and many other dishes.
