Autumn Weekend Destination Suggestion: The Village of Orman and Its Beautiful Local Distillery

Autumn Weekend Destination Suggestion: The Village of Orman and Its Beautiful Local Distillery

There are many local heroes who make small things of great significance for the development of tourism in Macedonia. The Kajak.mk team aims, during the platform’s existence, to introduce you to all those worth knowing and whose stories are worth listening to.

Such a destination, where dedicated people are working hard and investing in tourism, is the village of Orman, located just 2 kilometers from Ohrid. The village is situated on the slopes of Čekoština, approximately 1.8 kilometers from Lake Ohrid in a straight line, and at an altitude of 684 meters.

In the village itself, on an area of about 7000 m2, lies the beautiful new destination that the Kajak.mk team recommends as a must-visit on your list. It is Chateau Orman, a uniquely utilized space for relaxation, accommodation, and tasting of various local products and wines.

We spoke with Natasha, the woman who opened the doors to the world of Kajak.mk and shared how what was once envisioned as a private agro-complex, focused on growing various vegetables and fruits for guests, has transformed into a beautiful destination. From unique rooms for accommodation to a place that has become a rare tourist gem in Macedonia.

Natasha says that being located alongside the flow of the Daljan or Kostelska River makes this place unique for tourists. The surrounding forested area offers the opportunity for a wonderful walk, passing through the Čekoština area, where there are vineyards and a view of Lake Ohrid. Near the accommodation, you'll find the churches of St. Naum in the village of Orman and St. Erasmus, while the most famous beaches are just 1 kilometer away.
