How New Air Routes Are Driving Macedonia’s Tourism Boom

How New Air Routes Are Driving Macedonia’s Tourism Boom

Macedonia is experiencing significant growth in tourism in 2025, driven in large part by infrastructure development and the introduction of new air routes. From 2026, five new flight routes from Europe to the country are planned, providing faster and more convenient access for international tourists and boosting adventure and active travel opportunities.

The new routes will make travel more convenient for tourists, giving them more time to enjoy outdoor activities and cultural experiences. With faster access, journeys become more efficient, allowing visitors to focus on adventure tours, hiking, kayaking, and other nature-based activities.

At the same time, investments are being made in the railway and road networks. Renovation of the main railway lines, including the central station in Skopje and Corridor 10, provides faster and easier access to natural and cultural destinations.

This development represents a significant opportunity for sustainable tourism and active leisure. With improved access and more travel options, tourists can combine adventure activities with relaxation and cultural experiences without sacrificing travel time.

With the introduction of new air routes and investments in infrastructure, Macedonia is positioning itself as an accessible and attractive destination for adventure and active tourism. This development offers the potential to increase international visitors, generate economic benefits for local communities, and enhance the overall experience for tourists.
