Experience an Authentic Stay at the Memorial Home of Petre M. Andreevski

Kajak.mk continues to grow because it brings together all the unique places to stay across Macedonia. Soon to be featured: a stunning villa with a panoramic view of Lake Ohrid, nestled in a lush forest.

Today, we want to introduce you to the new and young team of hosts from the village of Sloeštica, Demir Hisar, who are renovating the building that houses the memorial room of Petre M. Andreevski. Antonio, who opened its doors to the world through Kajak.mk, says the property has 5 guest rooms with a total of 14 single beds.

The rooms are equipped with bed linens, towels, and face cloths, and the property has a shared kitchen.

What sets this accommodation apart from others is that the hosts offer a camping area right in the courtyard. Additionally, the memorial house of Petre M. Andreevski is part of the property, providing guests with a unique combination of tourism and educational experience during their stay.

Sloeštica has a lot to offer. Here you can visit the restaurant "Na Valajci," just 300 meters from the accommodation, the Art Point Gumno — the artistic residency of Sergej Andreevski, the birth house of Petre M. Andreevski, and the birth house of Jordan Plevneš and Vlado Cvetanovski.

You’ll also find the Bela Reka theater stage, the 14th-century Toplički Monastery, the Al-Bi Babino Library, the St. John the Baptist Monastery in Slepče, the Memorial Museum of the Smilevski Congress in Smilevo, and marked hiking trails through the Plekenška-Ilinska-Bigla mountain massif.

All of this we’ve listed can fill your weekend with unforgettable experiences—allowing you to enjoy untouched nature, dive into the novels and stories of Petre, breathe fresh mountain air, and taste healthy organic food produced by the locals.

Visitors can enter Petre’s universe, admire the frescoes in the local monasteries, as well as contemporary art in the Art Point Gumno studio. Nearby is also the summit of Plakenska Mountain — Crn Vrv — where with one glance you can see both Lake Ohrid and Lake Prespa.

What you might not know is that the village of Sloeštica is also called the “Venice of Demir Hisar” because every house has its own private stream.
