Celebrating 20 Years of Showcasing Traditional Macedonian Cuisine at "Domakinska Kuka"

Celebrating 20 Years of Showcasing Traditional Macedonian Cuisine at "Domakinska Kuka"

Gligor Kostujchinovski is our new local hero who has been writing the story of the ethno restaurant "Domaćinska Kuća" for 20 years, a place that is our new gastro recommendation for a delicious weekend.

The restaurant has been operating since January 2003. The day when Gligor decided to open his kitchen to true gourmets.

Today, he says for Kajak.mk that the restaurant also has its own winery with homemade wine, and it offers apartments for overnight stays.

Domaćinska Kuća is known for many specialties, and here you can try the homemade sausage that Gligor prepares every winter. For those who decide to visit this place, the team at Kajak.mk advises them to taste homemade pie and cornbread, vitkanik, kašanik, as well as homemade bread from Gligor's own oven. Don't forget to try the homemade wine that he named "Vevčanska Krv," which is produced in his own winery, Unifri.

When it comes to meat specialties, here you can try homemade prosciutto, kulen, pancetta, as well as homemade cheeses. The cherry on top are the specialties that are baked in the oven at "Domaćinska Kuća." You can try various ribs in the oven, goat meat, lamb, pork, and a range of other specialties.

Gligor says that guests love all the food prepared in his kitchen, but everyone especially adores the traditional Vevčansko Lukanche, which is made according to the recipe of the old Vevčani women—a recipe that preserves the ancient, delightful aroma from 1400 years ago.

The restaurant still serves the forgotten old village specialties, which are prepared using organically grown ingredients.

Domaćinska Kuća is located near the famous Vevčani Springs. Its interior is designed in a traditional Macedonian style, making it a renowned gastro corner throughout the region. The combination of wood and stone, traditional items, and the old hearth in the restaurant will help you feel the warmth of the Macedonian people.
