We Left the City and Moved to the Countryside: The Beginning of the “Forest Garden” Story

The mission of Kajak.mk is to promote all the local heroes who chose to stay in Macedonia and inspire young people. Today, we introduce you to the story of Martin and Anastasija, who are creating their own world—now officially part of Kajak.mk.

Meet Martin and Anastasija, two farmers and partners who began their journey toward a life closer to nature ten years ago. Together, they built “Forest Garden” – a homegrown, certified organic vegetable production that today brings healthy food to families across Macedonia.

In our collection of inspirational stories about local heroes, Forest Garden joins as a shining example of love, hard work, and dedication to nature.
In the heart of Macedonia, Martin and Anastasija made the decision to leave the city behind and create a life that brings them closer to nature. “We wanted to live differently, with different values. That first spring we focused on growing organic food for ourselves, and then we realized we could share it with others,” they say.

Every day at Forest Garden is filled with hands-on work in the garden – from planting, caring for, and harvesting vegetables to storing, sorting, and distributing them. “There are always challenges, but with patience and persistence, every difficulty can be overcome,” say Martin and Anastasija.

They believe that their work is not just about producing food, but also about promoting healthy values: minimalism, modesty, care for the environment, and family. Through their dedication, they show the difference between organic food grown with love and the mechanized, mass-produced products found elsewhere.

Despite all the challenges, Martin and Anastasija love the results of their work – the chance to be together, spend time outdoors, and see happiness and satisfaction in their customers.
“We want to increase our production and reach more families. Our dream is to have more families in our area engaged in organic farming, so we can support each other and create a small community,” they say.

The story of Martin and Anastasija is an example of love for nature, dedication, and equality. They are local heroes who make Macedonia special through hard work, vision, and teamwork. For Kajak.mk, they are an inspiration and proof that tradition can be a modern way of life, and rural areas can be vibrant and dynamic.

Soon, their “Forest Garden” will be featured on Kajak.mk as an authentic experience.
