We Started Organizing Tours with Unique Snow Pits

We Started Organizing Tours with Unique Snow Pits

Today, we want to introduce you to something we have long awaited to see come to life in Macedonia – mountain snowshoe tours!

These tours allow visitors to Mavrovo National Park to experience the beauty of nature during the winter season in an innovative way, with the help of snowshoes—special attachments for shoes that make it easier to walk through the snow.

Our hosts at the Tsarevec Mountain Lodge, with whom we will directly connect you to contact with just one click HERE, say that these snowshoe tours are becoming popular activities for people of all ages and fitness levels.

"We are excited to be the first to offer this winter activity to visitors of Mavrovo National Park. Snowshoe hiking is a huge trend worldwide, and more and more people are practicing this activity because it is based on the 'leave no trace' principle – meaning your movement through pristine nature leaves no trace behind. Snowshoe hiking is a completely ecological form of tourism. We hope and believe that by introducing visitors to sustainable tourism practices, together we can help create a more sustainable future for the region," say Sonja and Vladica.

Additionally, snowshoe hiking can also be a very adventurous activity if the group is prepared for skiing or snowboarding in 'free ride' conditions, and the participants do not have touring equipment. Snowshoes allow you to quickly and easily conquer a steep slope.

At the Carevec Mountain Hut, which is the headquarters of Mavrovo365, you can rent equipment and take a snowshoe walk in the surroundings, or you can book a guided tour to experience the snowy peaks of Bistra. The organization states that the tour can be adjusted to the physical fitness and mood of the group, and they offer three different tour options (a light tour lasting 2 hours, a medium-difficulty tour lasting 3 hours, and a hard tour lasting 3 to 5 hours).
