Paradise Exists in Macedonia, and It Is Located in the South of the Country
We call the month of August a traffic jam in tourism, but September and October are the ideal months to visit the small hidden paradise in Macedonia. Just 15 minutes from the village of Miravci, in the foothills of Kozuf, you will find the picnic spot known as 'Bel Raj.' This attraction is now part of Kajak.mk in the 'Kade Ovde' database. After much consideration about whether to add this exceptionally charming place to the Gastronomy or Attractions category, our team decided to list it as an attraction for several reasons.
The road leading to 'Bel Raj' is an adventure in itself. We recommend being cautious with your car, as at some points the road is narrow and requires extra concentration while driving.
Upon arriving at the location, you'll come across an old bridge, believed to have been built during the Ottoman rule. The locals call it 'Bel Most,' and near the bridge, there is a restaurant named 'Bel Raj.
As soon as you pass the bridge, on your right, you will be greeted by a beautiful view of a whirlpool created by the river flowing beneath the bridge. The river features two whirlpools, which are a true attraction for tourists and regular natural summer pools for the local population.
During the high season, parking and the crowds caused by the mass of tourists can be an issue, but September is the month you should visit.
What can be seen in the surroundings of 'Bel Raj':
- 'Kalica' Dam
- 'Gabrovo' Dam
Arrange a cycling tour with the local residents!
Local specialties you can find in the village:
- Figs (Seasonal)
- Pomegranates (Seasonal)
- Local Ajvar (Seasonal)
