Jasen Apiary Gears Up for the New Season

Jasen Apiary Gears Up for the New Season

The mysterious protected natural reserve has never been as fascinating to explore as it is today. Closed borders have encouraged us to focus on discovering the treasures we have right here at home.

The multifunctional area falls into the category of special natural landscapes, established to protect specific biocenological, floristic, faunistic, geological, and hydrological natural rarities. In "Jasen," no actions are taken that could disrupt the natural balance of the ecosystems or alter the fundamental authentic characteristics of the overall evolutionary development.

In this piece, we focus on something that nature itself creates — the bees living in this region. Our team introduces you to the “Jasen” apiary, located near the village of Nova Breznica.

If you decide to visit this village, we would also like to inform you that the famous Ice Cave is nearby. This cave is particularly interesting as it is situated in one of the most remarkable and significant natural areas in Macedonia.

This means that in this region you can visit the village of Nova Breznica, explore the cave, and of course, visit the Jasen apiary, which is preparing for the start of the new season.

You can reach the apiary by taking the road toward Markov Monastery and passing through the settlement of Sonje.

The activities at the apiary begin in May, offering many services including apitherapy. This therapy involves inhaling aerosols, which are a mixture of beneficial and healthy elements from the beehive, such as propolis, nectar, essential oils, flavonoids, honey, wax, royal jelly, pollen, and other healing substances. For apitherapy to be effective, the surrounding environment must be clean.

Honey, pollen, and propolis are already well-known beneficial bee products, and the air created around their hives is healing as well. The so-called "Air Therapy" is conducted in special API chambers, which are now available in Macedonia. Besides Russia, this therapy is also used in Germany, Bulgaria, Austria, Slovenia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is beneficial for everyone, especially for those with respiratory diseases.

More information about the apiary will be shared closer to the start of the season.
