Growing Up in a Farming Family: The Foundation of 'Iliev' Winery

Growing Up in a Farming Family: The Foundation of 'Iliev' Winery

Today, we have the honor of introducing you to Stojan, the man behind the name of the family winery Iliev.

Stojan took some time to share the story of the winery and introduce Kajak.mk readers and travelers to the ambition his great-grandfather had over 60 years ago.

Everything that today is called 'Iliev Winery' started with grape cultivation. Stojan's great-grandfather was a great enthusiast of wine and rakija production. Stojan says that he grew up in a farming family with a long-standing tradition, and in 2005, they decided to crown this family tradition by registering their own winery in the village of Sopot, near Kavadarci, and launching their first wine for sale.

The winery owns and cultivates 17 hectares of its own vineyards, from which they produce 280-300 tons of grapes annually. From this quantity, 20 tons of high-quality grapes are selected for wine production.

Perseverance and determination, above talent and genius, propel our business forward in times of strength or weakness. We value an environment where everyone is motivated to always move forward and find the path to success.

Iliev Winery is a small family winery located in the Tikveš wine region, specializing in the production of high-quality wines from the varieties Temjanika, Rhine Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Rosé, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah, all produced from their own grapes. The winery produces 10,000 liters of wine annually, with the goal of increasing production year by year.

The most notable wine would be the Rosé, which is the best-selling. Of course, there are also the Temjanika and Riesling, and for reds, Cabernet Sauvignon.

The winery is located in the most renowned wine region in Macedonia, the Tikveš region, specifically in the village of Sopot, near Kavadarci. It is almost impossible to visit Tikveš without taking a walk through the vast vineyards and not tasting the sweet flavor of its wine.

Today, the winery is led by Stojan, with the support of his father Dimče, who is also an experienced wine and viticulture expert.

Stojan is a student at the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy in Skopje, specializing in food technology, aiming to enrich his knowledge in the production process and take the family wine production tradition to a higher level.

Currently, the winery does not offer organized tastings or tours, but if someone is in the area and wishes to visit, they are welcome to come and get acquainted with the winery and taste the wines.

From today, Winery Iliev is part of our online store, where you can order their wines and have them delivered via express mail.
