First Apple Rakija in Macedonia Launched with a Stamp

First Apple Rakija in Macedonia Launched with a Stamp

The Kajak.mk platform adds yet another significant story when it comes to the unique products made in Macedonia, which serve as ambassadors promoting Macedonia around the world.

Today, our team will share the story of Mr. Zlatko, the person behind the brand "Nikan Distillery," or the first distillery to launch apple rakija in Macedonia with a stamp.

The distillery was registered in the autumn of 2022, when Zlatko, together with his family, decided to bring to life an idea they had for nearly 20 years.

Their family fruit-growing tradition has been thriving for almost eight decades, and the family tradition of distilling rakija was the main reason that motivated them to register a small family distillery.

The reason for registering the distillery was to contribute to the growth of rakija culture in Struga, says Zlatko, adding that with this move, they aim to prove to people that healthy, ripe fruit can be transformed into a drop of refined liquor.

The rakija is made from their own fruit orchards, located in the heart of the fertile Struga plain, in the village of Misleshevo, Struga.

Guided by the motto "What you don’t put in your mouth, don’t put in the barrel," it motivates them to continue with quality production.

Zlatko is proud of the fact that they launched the first apple rakija in Macedonia with a stamp, and in the near future, they expect to release rakija made from plums and pears. He emphasizes that each rakija is double-distilled, which means that all additional and harmful alcohols are removed, resulting in pure ethyl alcohol with refined aromas and properties.
