I Have Started Developing Gastronomic Tourism in Dojran

Kajak.mk, as an eco-team striving to tell the stories of people in Macedonia who do small things with great significance in the development of tourism, introduces you to Branko Popov.

Branko processes local olives and produces various products from them, and not just anywhere, but in Dojran.

Dojran has always been a gastronomic destination for us, and thus comes the story of Branko, who handcrafts olive oil, olive leaf tea, and today also offers a spread made from preserved olives.

Why do we recommend Dojran in winter?

Dojran enjoys sunshine all year round. The day is perfect for a morning jog along the lake's trail, and in the afternoon, it’s great for soaking up vitamin D from the sun, as well as for tasting the local produce. For those who have never been to Dojran and are wondering how to spend a weekend by the lake, our advice is to meet Branko, who can also be your gastronomic guide.

Taste the flavor of Dojran. For some of you, the name 'Tanche Maslina' is familiar. It is the brand behind the olive leaf tea, and it belongs to Mr. Popov. Some of these products can be found throughout the country, but our advice is to get them from the right place—Dojran.

As Mr. Branko tells us, to produce a good and high-quality olive that will be packed in a jar, it takes eight months. The harvest begins around October, followed by several procedures until the final serving at the table.

Why does Kajak.mk share this story with you?

Because the olive he produces is pure, ecological, and above all, homemade. The tea we recommend you taste in Dojran (alongside the olive oil and spread) has enormous health benefits. It is made from branches that are not sprayed and is left to dry in a dark room for 40 days, at a maximum of 25 degrees.

You can find the products at the quay in Dojran, sold at Uncle Angel's stall, and you can find Angel at his cafe on the sand, called 'Kavazhilda Tana Paljurska,' where you'll always find sunshine throughout the year. Winter isn't so bad in Dojran if you have good sunglasses for the sun.
