Accommodation in Mavrovi Anovi – Perfect for Hiking Weekends

Accommodation in Mavrovi Anovi – Perfect for Hiking Weekends

Active tourism in Macedonia is once again in vogue. What the Kajak.mk team takes pride in is the fact that more and more young people are choosing to replace the traditional vacation with exploring the regions where they stay.

Today, we introduce you to the new host who opened the doors to travelers.

For years, he has been shaping the unique story of this one-of-a-kind accommodation located in the Mavrovi Anovi weekend settlement, nestled deep in the Mavrovo forest.

The accommodation offers a magical view of the lake and the deer peninsula. Situated on the edge of a beech forest, the building is designed in a mountain style, specifically in the style of hut lodgings commonly found in Alpine regions.

He says that hiking trails start right near the accommodation, along with paths to the lake for walking and fishing by the shore.

For curious tourists, it’s worth highlighting that right from the yard of the accommodation, a hiking trail begins that leads to the peak Koža (1,740 m), from where several other beautiful hiking paths intertwine in the picturesque surroundings of Vrben.

Mavrovo Lake is just 300 meters from the house, and nearby is the administrative center of Mavrovo, Mavrovi Anovi, where you can find several restaurants, mini markets, a tennis court, a pharmacy, and a bus station for regional transport.

The host, Dimitar Popov, is a longtime rock climbing instructor, mountain guide, and ski touring guide. At the accommodation, you can find guided rock climbing tours with full equipment, hiking tours on Korab—both one-day and multi-day—ski school and instructors, yoga sessions, as well as herbalism and mushroom foraging tours where you can learn what to collect, how, and during which part of the year.

You can rent a bicycle and choose an exciting tour—whether it’s a mountain ride on dirt roads or a picnic panoramic tour around the lake with a snack in the meadows. The choice is yours, but we’re sure you’ll end the day with a smile.

Sounds like the perfect accommodation for active tourism, right?
