Accommodation That Will Be a Trend — Located in Macedonia

Accommodation That Will Be a Trend — Located in Macedonia

Get your bags packed for a trip because we’ve added a very nice and unique accommodation to Kajak.mk’s collection, located at 1000 meters above sea level, specifically in the village of Modrich.

Modrich is a village located in western Macedonia, between Struga and Debar. In this village, you’ll find the unique and restored “Modrich” house, which belongs to the category of accommodations trending this year. If you’re a traveler seeking a stay in places that breathe history, then this is the perfect choice for you.

Modrich is known for its unique location and clean air, its water springs—which were even the subject of the feature film “Vreme Vodi” by Branko Gapo—as well as the hospitality and openness of the people who live there or come from the village. Nestled on the mountain ridge of Jablanica, the village boasts a rich history and culture.

The people living in Modrich belong to the Mijak culture. For those unfamiliar, the Mijaks are an ethnographic group of Macedonians who reside in the Lower River region (Dolna Reka), also known as Mijachija. This region is home to between 30,000 and 60,000 people.

In Modrich, alongside its rich culture, what attracts many tourists is the wild and untouched nature—the springs, forests, and rivers, which are among the most famous in Macedonia. For adventure lovers, it’s worth mentioning that several well-known mountain peaks surround Modrich. The village is also home to the Modrich fortress, which held great importance during Ottoman rule.

So there’s no doubt—this village is definitely a must-visit and the perfect adventure for all of you.
